The Order of the Daughters of the King® (DOK) is a spiritual sisterhood of women dedicated to a life of Prayer, Service, and Evangelism. Our membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA), and Roman Catholic Churches.  We are an Order - this means that we don’t just enroll as members and attend meetings.  Prospective members undergo a three-month discernment period while learning about The Order.  

The St. Helena’s chapter currently includes approximately 20 women at various ages and stages of their spiritual journeys.  We meet monthly and support our church family and each other in many ways, including:

• Spiritual Development – we choose a book to read and discuss at our monthly meetings.  During the summer, we meet for lunch and enjoy fellowship.
• Prayer Requests – we pray for each other, and we welcome prayer requests from the congregation and clergy. Boxes are provided in the alcove of Wendler Hall and in the narthex of the Historic Sanctuary for written requests. Requests can also be submitted through the church office. All requests are kept confidential.      
• Prayer Cards – we send prayer cards to each family in the congregation on a one-year cycle, while praying for them that week.
• Holy Week Lunches – a long-standing tradition, the DOK provides lunches after the noon services held during Holy Week.

Membership in The Order is open to women in every stage of life. The diversity of ages strengthens and enriches our adult, or senior, chapters. Younger women benefit from the discipleship of experienced spiritual mentors, and older women are invigorated by the fresh faith and energy of the younger women.

No special spiritual attributes are needed to become a Daughter of the King – only a sincere desire to draw nearer to God, and to help others do the same, and we would love to have you join us! For more information, please contact Kim Myer.
